Walk in the Park wellbeing walks with the Wildlife Trust
Put your walking shoes on and join this relaxed series of walks exploring Luton's hidden green spaces, boost your sense of wellbeing and meet new people.
Summary
Each first Wednesday of the month between March and December, Walk in the Park takes you to a variety of natural spaces in Luton. From well-loved parks to lesser-known local nature reserves, get your walking shoes on and join these free walks. This activity is led by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire (BCN).
What to expect:
a slow-paced 90-minute walk, no longer than 2 miles
plenty of time for mindfulness and enjoying the views, sights and sounds of nature
information about local natural history and wildlife
sometimes co-led by local people with a special area of expertise in wildlife or their area

7 May - Bramingham Woods
4 June - Dallow Downs and Winsdon Hills
2 July - Cowslip Meadow
6 August - Fallowfield Meadow
3 September - People's Park

Who can join activities here?
Anyone can join this activity. Families are welcome, but children must be accompanied by their parent or guardian.
Carers or support workers are welcome to accompany the people they work with.
These are nice short easy walks in small groups, of around 15 people. Great if you're starting to get into walking and exploring the outdoors.
Opening times
The 2025 walks take place from 2pm to 3:30pm on the first Wednesday of each month, between March and December.
Costs
Activities are free, but you do need to book.
Facilities
Where possible, we start and finish the walks at locations with toilets and good parking.
Accessibility
Most sites are out in the countryside and on uneven ground with some steep inclines. The walking pace is generally slow.

About the staff
Walks are led by trained members of the Wildlife Trust BCN staff and volunteer team.
Staff and volunteers are DBS checked and receive comprehensive training in health and safety, safeguarding and First Aid.
They are experienced in leading guided walks.
Good to know
Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Bring a hat in summer and wrap up warm in winter.
Bring some bottled water with you to keep hydrated.
You will receive detailed instructions for each location when you book.
These are slow-paced walks and we'll keep the learning content low-key and accessible, so you can focus on enjoying the views.
